make sure everything works including air-con, feel carpets where you put your feet for damp/wet, also the rear floor under the back storage compartment where a spare wheel should be located. normal engine checks apply .. other than that just see if it feels nice when driven. steering can seem a little twitchy as the car really wants to move quickly with very little turn of the steering wheel.. smooth gears and take a volt meter with you to see if alternator is charging and how many volts Battery drops to when its cranked over to start up. you know .. normal checks...lol

Thanks Guys, I picked it up today and hope l will have a few years of great service. I had a 2004 Yaris 1.3 which was really good and l hope this one will look after me just as well.

I live in Erith in Kent and l am looking for a garage that can give it a service and a good once over. Anywhere in greater London is also good. Any Recommendations?

I always found the IQ to be such a weird car to be inside - If I don't look behind it's like being in a roomy higher-end car like an Avensis or something

As soon as I look behind tho' it's like  as I always forget the back is so close

Enjoy the car! And don't forget, in wide bays you can do the cheeky sideways park like a lot of Smartcar owners do

I've got a 64 plate IQ2 and based in Sidcup so not a million miles away from you. There's a very good independent Toyota workshop here called Tech-One which I would highly recommend.

Apollo's in west street, the Pheasant is still there, steer clear of Arts or Hearts in Sandcliff rd, Mr Metro (now works out of the old Hayes engineering building) C P Autos in lion road

As they used to say, Erith isn't twinned with any town, but it does have a suicide pact with Dagenham

I have friends and family in the area
