Touch & go

Hi, i have the touch and go sat nav, and want to update it, but don't really want to spend £160, is there another way

As I see it there is 2 options. Legal way or illegal way. 

I’d always do it legitimately. What you do is up to you of course 🙂

Got quoted £160 from toyota, bit steep

If you log in to the my Toyota portal on the website you will be able to see updates for your car. 

I do agree it’s stupidly expensive considering it’s only software.

Not for the touch and go, its dealer only now since they removed support and access for the Toyota toolbox

you can get the update from https://www.toyota-tech.eu/, but you will need a mapcare licence key or a licence key card (a physical licence card) to activate the update - there are a few types of these card

Just an example of the most common one.

£120+ for an annual map update. Seems there are other Waze to skin a cat! Even TomTom is only about £10 or so a year for updates on a smart phone.

Yea... its one reason I don't mind that the UK Mk4 Yaris doesn't have satnav!!

No that's for the later systems, 'Touch2 with Go'. The online support for the earlier 'Touch & Go' systems ended in December 2020.

 

I have paid for the official updates in the past when they were still available online, but to be honest if I were to update the Touch & Go in our 2012 Avensis now I would probably risk this for £35

Considering the age of the car, even if it 'bricks' the satnav I would just revert to using my TomTom!

Hmm maybe I have the old system then and it won’t work for me. Mines a 2015 model. When I log in to the app it shows that as an update.

If it shows the update for your car then you must have the later Touch 2 With Go system. I can't remember what year Touch 2 replaced Touch & Go but could have been 2015 onwards?  If I log in it shows those same updates available for our 2018 C-HR but nothing at all available for our 2012 Avensis.

Edit: Your screenshots show yours as 'Touch2' so you definitely have the later system.

You get the touch2 from late 13 on in the Auris and late 2014 in the yaris (facelift), iirc the Touch was 11 on, before that was the gen 3 and 5 sat nav's (B90xx - made by Aisin) of course you get the optional TNS systems as well
