Rear Brake Light Clip

Rear brake light clip from the MK2 Yaris is damaged and has to be held in place with black tac ( same as blue-tac but stronger )

What are my options ? There are some 2nd hand ones on eBay but they all look faulty. It is possible to buy them brand new from Toyota on eBay but they want £50 !

Is it an option to go to my local Toyota garage and see if they can offer me one for a decent price ?

I've attached a picture of the part in question

Thanks

What size are the holes it clips in to ?

Seems like a common issue

Just an idea - remove the remaining tab and fit some screw plugs  aka screw locknuts to the car and use screws

eg.

Thanks for the useful information.

The picture I posted is from eBay, not mine ( although the design is identical )

If it detaches again then I'll give it a go. How should I measure the size of the holes ? Sorry for the silly question but I don't know much about these things ( but i'm learning )

The holes in the clip look like this..

Without the tabs, would it even fit into place ?

You should be able to get a washer down the hole

OK I'll consider buying that then. Here's some pics...

The only question then is, will the silver screws you posted on eBay fit snugly through the clip ? As they could be different sizes as you say

Measure the 2 square holes in the boot lid with a ruler, remove what's left of the tabs/clips, you may need to find a couple of washers to put the screw through

the plugs i posted are an example - these clip in place as you put the screw in, they expand

I'll measure the holes as soon as I can, thanks.

I meant the screws on the eBay listing may be too large in circumference to fit through this part show on the picture.

Yeah I get you, thanks.

So just remove these two clips here ?

From the outside, these parts I pointed to are still intact. I don't think it'd be possible to remove the lower parts of the tabs

I measured the holes in the car.

The left one is 1.1cm and the right one is 0.9cm

Before I buy the ones you posted off eBay. Do the sizes look alright ?

So the holes in the car are as follows:

Left 9mm
Right 11mm

The size of the expanding locknuts you posted are..

12.5mm Head
8mm Bottom

I'd need to source the screws separately for that one right, unless the OEM ones I have fit in there ? As one of the holes is 11mm will that still work ?

Would the first ones you posted not work as one side of it looks flexible

I could just buy them both and see which one works

I bought both you posted.

Put the red one in the left and the white one in the right. Screwed them both in and now it seems to be fixed 🙂
