RAV4 PHEV still not eligible for EVHS grant

The Electric Vehicle Home Charging Scheme (EVHS) eligible vehicle list for home charger grants has had a long awaited update today. BUT the RAV4 PHEV is still not on there!

I'm beginning to wonder where the issue lies. Is it the government department processing or the Toyota UK application? Toyota UK assured me they applied many months ago but I'm beginning to have my doubts. Other new PHEVs have been added in the latest update.

For info., this is what is included in today's update..

10 November 2021

Added Audi Q3 Sportback TFSI e, Cupra Born (58kWh, 204PS), DS DS9 PHEV, Jeep Renegade 4xe, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and Vauxhall Combo-e Life.

It’s a shame as I think that if it’s not added soon then there is a possibility that it will not included before they change in rules.

Yep, that's what I fear. I'm frustrated with myself for not looking at this in as much detail prior to getting the vehicle as the charger was part of the master plan. Not that I feel I've made the wrong choice at all. I'd made an assumption that if the vehicle met the criteria for the grant on EV range and published emissions it qualified, not that it had to be specifically list by model.

I note the Audi Q3 PHEV added to the list today only has a max 28 mile range and a 13kwh Battery.

It also has a max charge rate of 3.6kW which makes a wall charger less beneficial.

I'd really like a RAV4 PHEV 'lite' (Excel) of similar spec - it would suit me down to the ground. It can easily be charged overnight from a 13A socket - really no need for a charger - and it suits the sort of journeys that I do - very short journeys (<20 miles) and very long journeys (>100 miles) but relatively few intermediate distance journeys. And all without the unnecessary weight and expense of a bigger Battery and charger. Oh well ... I'm happy with what I've got! 🙂
