Corolla Excel lock information

Hi, Iv just got a Corolla 2.0 hybrid excel. My 1st Toyota. 

The car has smart entry, and when I unlock the car I put my hand inside the handel & locking it I touch the outer handel (3 little lines).

Should the  car lock itself after a set period ? Iv looked on the Internet & I can’t find that particular menu?

Will probably auto lock if unlocked and then no doors are opened.

It locks again if you don't open a door.  It also has a tantrum when I wash it and have the keys in my pocket, locking every time water runs across the sensor.

Correct I put my keys on the shelf in the garage when I wash mine 😅

Yes, I noticed this when washing the RAV and I couldn't figure out why it kept locking.

Haha , how we know now who look after their cars 😉👌, happens to me too but not that often since my one it’s not that sensitive to touch it’s an older type covered with black rubber boot., more like unlock when drying around the handle. Auto lock can be set at different time intervals, by default is 30 seconds if you don’t open any door and that can be changed to 1 , 3 or 5 min. Carista obd 2 makes all that available in older cars, perhaps in yours may be through the info screen. 👍

All of us who've been there and done it are having a good chuckle at that. Nice to know I'm not the only person left who still has the pride to do their own car cleaning. Nobody else on my street does!
