I have a Corolla Saloon 21 plate. On teaching a student to do bay parking, I asked them to straighten the wheels whilst in park, which he replied he couldn't. I swapped with him and the only way I could move the steering was to put in drive and move. Has anyone else come across this problem as Toyota techs could not find the fault.

Any chance the car wasn’t in ready mode but accessories mode only?

Was the ignition on? If not, the electric power steering wouldn't be powered.
