A light tapping noise, I think made by the plastic parts shifting relative to one another. The lightest hand pressure on the mechanism stops it. Very subtle but equally annoying due to it being so close to the ear.

I remember someone else mentioning the same issue a while ago. Just wondered if anyone had found a good solution? I was thinking of trying to get some silicone spray into it.

I mentioned in another post that I had a tapping noise from the rear off-side passenger area. After finding your post, I had a look at the seat belt height adjuster and on moving it, it sounds very much like the noise I've been getting. I slid the adjuster down and went on a short drive and didn't hear the noise. I'll leave it in the lower position until I have a longer run.

Putting the height adjuster in the lower position is not really comfortable, so if it is that, I'll need to look at some other solution.

Needs to be mentioned to a Toyota main dealer service dept so it can be fed back to the factory & they can work on a solution / fix.

The more people that highlight the same issue the sooner a solution can be figured out.

Kaizen = continuous improvement.

In my car, the noise from the belt adjuster is not caused by bumps like the rear noise, it can start happening any time the car is moving. Just reaching over your shoulder and resting your fingers on it gently is enough to make it stop.

I have had it greater 9r lesser degrees on both auris and the corolla. Also had same on a mondeo. Moving the adjuster down a notch or two does seem to cure it.
