I'm getting so many mixed messages about lead times on new corolla orders. Some saying January, some saying April, some saying June. I have ordered a 2.0 design hatchback and dealer says end of April. Does that sound right? What are the chances things will speed up by then?

It’s the shortage of computer chips that’s hit all car manufacturers, and anything else that needs chips. I have seen news bits suggesting it won’t be until 2023 before back to normal. That doesn’t mean no Toyotas built until 2023, just that there is a slowing down of production.

Toyota's production was affected by a 40% reduction in September, a reduction in November, and they have said they should to return to normal in December. It also may depend what factory options you have included.

Some manufacturers have 12 month delays ! So April isn't the worst.

I am from Portugal, i have a Corolla TS 2.0 ordered in September 6 and i am still waiting. The dealer told the ETA is December 30.

I think models equipped with the 2.0 take more time than the ones equipped with the 1.8l powertrain.

The trim level also heavly affect the delivery dates...the higher the worst.

This is a real issue. Hopefully Toyota won't start shipping cars without certain features due to the chip shortage. Tesla, for instance:

"Numerous Model 3 and Model Y buyers are receiving their electric vehicles without USB-C ports in the center console or rear seating areas. Some customers said they were alerted in advance, but others only found out when they took their EVs home. Delivery specialists and others at Tesla have pinned the missing USB ports on chip shortages."
