Celica Newbie, Forum Newbie... Need Help!

Well, hello there!

Really not quite sure how this all works - the closest I've got to a forum before is staring over my boyfriend's shoulder!!

Basically, I bought a 1997 Uk Celica ST on Monday evening and there are a few things that need sorting.

Main problem is that the car only came with one key. I asked Toyota (knowing it would be very expensive) and I really don't want to have to pay £160 to get a new key and remote... can anyone help me on this ???

Also, I'd like to put a spoiler on the back - only a small one though, nothing too bling... and at some point would like get some nice alloys :P

Any replies would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

A

Yep, as Asha said welcome to TOC :group-cuddles:

Regarding your key, does it have to be a remote key

because i had a new one cut by my local Toyota dealer for mine and they only charged £7

(just a key mind, no buttons)

Loads of different alloys available to fit your car, just depends on the style your after.

Have a look thru the gallery at the top of the page for ideas on

what other people have on thier cars.

Dont know what spoilers are available as i dont own a celica but im

sure someone will come along soon with an answer or two.

As far as I know (which is not very much :P ) the key and remote are programmed to disable the immobiliser and alarm, so just a normal key won't work...

hi!

wttc (even tho i aint a member yet :P)

there are lots of spoilers about for your model, im sure sum 1 will post up a list of manufacturers soon!

tho if your after a small spoiler, ie like the standard one that comes on the GT model, I have one for sale, if your interested make me an offer, I have no idea what there worth, its in black!

Isnt there anyway you can buy a remote from eBay and get them to program it or something, some manufacturers do this, I know Peugeot have done it before, could work out far cheaper if you can get hold of a second hand fob!!

thanks guys

Possibly interested in the GT spoiler, but would need to respray it silver - is that a really expensive thing to do ??

I'm getting a little concerned, I've spent the last 2 1/2 years telling my boyfriend to stop playing on the damn internet - I can kinda see where he's coming from now (as it were :P )
