I well remember the days when Morris Minors were cheap and welding sets were expensive. Now anyone can afford the kit to restore an old car - problem is getting the old car.

RAV4 ordered Feb 22, expected Nov ‘22 then told July ‘23 now Sept ‘23

Hybrid, UK

Dealers never phoned me I’ve always had to phone them. Inchcape Toyota, terrible, sadly they bought out Bentleys Toyota who I originally placed my order with.

I dropped into my dealer on the weekend for an update but they couldn't tell me anything about my order at all.  I had ordered Scarlet Flare Red but that had become unavailable prior to Christmas and it was going to have to change to either White, Silver, Grey or Blue.  However, I note that the colour is still showing as available on other models and the pricelist shows it too.  The website still shows my order as Scarlet Flare Red but the dealer could not even confirm that that is indeed the case!  Apparently, until the model is again available to order, they cannot get on the system to make any amendments or identify what the current specification will be.  I was told that it was downgraded from Dynamic Premium to Dynamic with a sunroof but that is not a stand-alone option.  It is part of an option pack but is also available as part of a 'premium pack'.  That is the one that I would like to change it to, given the chance, as it includes the JBL etc.  Presumably, build and delivery will still be many months away, so it is probably not urgent but I would like to know what Toyota are planning to build after this long wait and whether I can still amend the specification to something closer to that which I ordered in the first instance...

I ordered a RAV4 Excel 2WD with premium pack in December 2021 due October 22. Told price would be honoured at £33740 and also the 0% pcp deal. October came and went. Also told premium pack and price would be honoured despite Audio pack no longer an option. Last update was car would be ready March this year. Am I in cloud cuckoo land??

Told verbally or in writing/email? And if it is going to be ready next month then it must be on a boat to the UK so the shipping info should be on the app…..

Good you have it in writing. Very Unlikely to be arriving next month if Build hasn’t started…..

Transit times haven't been discussed for a while but optimistically it is around..

1-2 weeks after build to getting on a boat

4 weeks from Japan to Portbury

1 week in Portbury

2 weeks in Burniston

2-3 days with the dealer.

These are probably best case based on what we've seen previously so looking at around 2 and a bit months from getting notified it has gone into build.

Not sure this means too much, my PHEV was ordered in Feb 2022, in early Oct 2022 it was still showing 'processing', then in mid Oct MyT popped up showing the car was in transport to Derby, a couple of days later I got a call from my dealer ready for pickup, so in my case MyT was a waste of time 🙂

Hopefully your dealer will be able to give you more accurate info.

Well, he rang me yesterday. My order has been converted from Y22 to Y23 and he also confirmed in writing (email) that price and 0% PCR rate are frozen....however no idea when I'll get it.....bit upset the tax rate is now up with the extra £450/year.

Aye, but you've done well to keep the 0%, new deals are like 6 to 8% these days.  And you might get lighted door switches instead of having to fit hokey Chinese units like us poor sods 🤣

Great that you've got written confirmation, I didn't and it added to the 'stress' 🤨

I think the MY23 updates will be worth waiting for, my navigation is fine but the rest of the screens on the late MY21 spec are a little clunky and average resolution.

Good luck.

Your car will be taxed when you get it. and the rate from the 2nd year is in the table below (current rates).

I ordered my car in Feb 2022 (PHEV Dynamic Premium in Scarlet Flare Red) but Toyota later removed that colour option and then downgraded the specification to Dynamic grade with a sunroof.

I have tried contacting Toyota customer services to get an update, as my dealer now appears unable to tell me anything about my order at all.  Firstly, I wanted to get confirmation as to precisely what grade, specification and colour that my order was currently showing and, secondly, I wanted to know whether I could modify either the colour or specification - the colour that I ordered now appears to be available again and the Dynamic grade now shows a 'Premiuim Pack' that more closely resembles the specification of my original order.

Apparently, adding the Premium Pack would force me to have to cancel the existing order and re-submit a new one, putting me to the back of the queue and, anyway, this option is still not available on the system.  The colour was a possibility but, I am told, my car has been assigned a stock number, which would indicate that it either has a build date or has been built.

I tried to check all this by logging in to My Toyota on the website but I now don't appear able to get on the system either (see separate thread).  I'm starting to wonder whether to bother at all....

You and me both Mark. As you know, we are in the same position re this model…my dealer has gone radio silent. No reply to an email a month ago, asking for clarification as to what I am likely to receive. My ETA has slipped from Oct 2022 to Nov 2023, and the goalposts still keep moving further away.

I do have some sympathy for the dealer, as they genuinely do not know themselves what the outcome will be….I do believe mine on this one. Remember, they make nothing if we cancel the order. Having talked to Lexus, they say the dealer cannot take our order if we cancel it…not sure if that is true though.

I am basically working on the assumption that the DP model will not be built, and I will have wasted 17+ months for nothing. The only consolation is the Home Charger fitted at Toyotas expense, which I regard as small compensation for the inconvenience, distress and consequential losses incurred as a result of this unplanned delay. My existing RAV4 is costing a fortune to keep on the road, whilst I wait for Toyota UK to get their house in order.

Other makers and models now have to be considered, and Lexus will probably be the beneficiary. £45k buys a very nice (nearly new) RX450H!..

MyT tells me that my RAV4 has now left the factory.  Does the MyT/JSON data get updated with the vessel name once it's been assigned?  Might be interesting to follow its journey using one of the ship trackers...

No, it never showed the vessel but some people were able to work it out from the departure port and use online shipping trackers.

The network data behind the My Toyota web page was once useful for tracking ETAs at various points but they stopped including it when we were trying to find out info on the wife's Yaris. Don't know if that's still the case.

Thanks, I feared that might be the case. I'll try to figure out the vessel it ends up on, but as Nagoya seems to be a very busy port I suspect that's going to be difficult.

Well, I have an unexpected update today - my car is showing as "Build in Progress"!  It's not the grade or colour that I ordered but at least it is on the way.  My only query, though, is that under the current status section of the JSON data, it has the following info:

  1. callOffStatus: "Called off"
  2. currentStatus: "BuildInProgress"
  3. damageCode: ""
  4. isDelayed: null

What does "Called off" mean and is it normal to show the 'Damage Code' and 'Is Delayed' lines in the code?
