Hi!

How do i remove the back seat in a 2017/18 Auris??

I pull and pull up in the front but it won't come loose 😭

Don't wish to brake anything...

Thanx in advance//

Is it a hybrid? My 2016 Auris Excel Hybrid hatchback has 60/40 split/folding rear seat backs, but the seat base itself (the bit you physically sit on) seems fixed. Mines a hybrid and the hybrid Battery pack is under that seat. I think it can only be removed for hybrid Battery service, but that’s it. Not for load carrying.

Yes its hybrid..i've seen the seat being out somehow due to gain access to the clips that hold that lower panel where a filter is located.

I can completely relate to the problem you are having with the back seat - it definitely feels like there are some bolts, that you don't know about, that are still holding the seat down as you try to lift it!

These pictures might help a bit:

Notice the two small metal loops (red arrows) - they really are all that is holding the seat front down.

The clips locate into these two white plastic 'receivers'.

Close up, a 'receiver' looks like this.

If you sit, as you normally would, in the rear passenger seat, the clips are located underneath your seat along an imaginary line where your legs touch together!

If you can get your hand under 'seat foam/rest of the car' join, and sharply pull upwards there!  The clips won't necessarily undo together, but that doesn't matter.  The seat is very flexible, as you've probably already noticed!  It's made from a steel wire frame, with liquid upholstery foam injected into a mould that encapsulates the steel wire frame. I think.

If you sharply pull the seat at the place described, then much less of your effort is wasted twisting the seat base - the sharp pull, which is what is needed, goes more directly to the clip.

Just be aware there is a risk those white plastic inserts (shown in Gergs third photo) may break with the sharp pull needed to release the seat.  I carry dogs a lot so I check the Battery filter more than most I guess.  The seat still locates no problem, but it is very easy to remove the seat now.

In other countries the Auris was still named a Corolla. Try a you tube video for 2016 Corolla.

You have to pull harder on the seat than you really want coz the clips are quite tight. I think I just went for a sharp pull having sussed out rough location of the clips. It's a bit scary though as it feels too brutal

Yeah, the trick is to do it as close to the fixing as possible, otherwise the rest of the seat will bend/flex and absorb the force.
