New 12volt Battery fitted

Hi, was just wondering, I fitted a new 12v Battery (YBX5012 Yuasa Silver High Performance Car Battery 12V 54Ah) this week to replace the standard Mutlu Battery which came with my CHR 2.0. as it was not holding its charge. The new battery is so much better but I notice that outside the battery is wet after I have driven the car. Is this just sweat from the outside cold or something more serious? Thanks

If that was after a short journey it may be condensation forming on the outside of the Battery.  On a longer journey I would say that heat from the engine and radiator would dry it.

If this was a Battery bought online - have you checked the vent plugs are removed?

Normally there are small red coloured bungs for transport purposes that require removing before use.

Did you fit the drain tube ?

I left the plug in the right hand side, and fitted the drain vent on the left. Thanks.

Yes, I left the right plug in and fitted the drain vent on the left. Thanks

Hopefully it's just condensation and not acid!

If you're feeling silly, you can soak some filter paper in beetroot juice and let it dry to make some adhoc litmus paper (or just buy some  ) and use that to test it - If it goes a strong red it's very acidic and you might want to speak to the seller...
