Sorry, it was Bitch1001 that made the comment about mirror wiring - my apologies.

I thought you were asking how they stole my ST

Given that there are no door modules in the Aygo (but there are in most other cars) I would treat their comment with a pinch of salt.

They told me about how they gained access to ST , not aygo

If you only have one key, what if you lose it? Could try Timpsons if you have a local branch or an auto locksmith.

Hi Frosty,

Thanks for the reply.I neglected to mention i do not have the code tag for the transponder. It came with two keys but one was a mechanical one which will not start the car.It went through an RAC check and in that they indicated it had two "remote" keys which is not true,so sloppy work in my opinion.I have been in touch with my nearest Toyota dealer and they can do one at an all up cost of £130,

Price sounds about right Peter. Personally I would never buy a car from a dealer without a second key. Privately bought car, yes I would buy without second key, but taking into account what I would need to pay out. As FBalls says…. What happens if you lose your only key, and you haven’t got a tag. Your stuck well and truly.

AFAIK it was normal for these cars to be supplied from new with one remote key and one mechanical key, but both should have the transponder chip required to start the car.

I suggest you speak to a local car locksmith about getting a transponder chip for the mechanical key and programming the car to allow both keys to start the car.

The working one can have its transponder code cloned to make the other one work, but £130's not bad for a replacement remote key from Toyota - I'm sure my Yaris ones were more than that, and I don't want to know how much the 'smart' key for my Mk4 will cost to replace!!

Agree with many of the comments, our similar 107 has a remote key and a 'normal' key, but both start the car. A local key specialist may do it cheaper, but £130 is cheap compared to if you lose your only key and then it a world of pain and expense to sort it out.

Thanks for all the replies guys.I was unaware of that safety feature until after i bought the car.I agree it was poor service from the dealer not to highlight this matter on buying the car.I have to say the car is in excellent condition and he did ask me to give him a write up on Facebook. In view of the key and a problem with the radio, which i will pursue in the relevant forum, i don't think i will do that but i won't slag him off either.May i say how helpful it is to have a club like this to turn to,

Although not ideal, you're not alone, over the years heard lots of Aygo/C1/107 owners who only got one key when buying a car 2nd hand, gawd knows how peeps lose the 2nd key, assume even getting a 'clone' key for £80- £100 will eat into a dealer's profit, so they won't bother.
