Hello all

Just purchased my first ever Toyota car, having been a VW nut. I have a 2ltr Corolla Hybrid estate 2021 model which I am very pleased with. My question if you could help me out please is what documentation should I have received with the car? By this I mean instruction manual, service book, wallet etc, as the dealer has not given them to me and I am trying to get them to send them.

Thanks in advance

You should have been issued with everything you mentioned. They should also have recorded the car's VIN and it's PDI in the service book.

Thanks for the quick Response Stuart. Yes that was my thoughts too....

In the interim, you can download the full owners manual from

 https://www.toyota.co.uk/tme#/my-toyota/eManual

You can either enter your VIN or opt for a generic search.

They don’t give out service books anymore cos the record is now kept electric

i don’t think they give a full annual either anymore

The service records may be on line but you still get a load of paper after each service.  You will also get a certificate of conformity that they warn you to keep safe.

My dealer should have given me a binder or such but had run out.

Regarding the electronic record, mine includes fitting a rear view camera, a hybrid health check and replacing a washer pump.

It does not mention the intermediate service at the time of the hybrid health check, nor does it mention the Battery change under warranty.  As the new Battery has a different capacity to the OEM I would have thought that most significant.

When did that come into force? I took delivery end of September this year and I got the full shebang. Sorry if I've given out wrong information.

I never got any manual either. I think it's a good move. The manuals are available on line which makes them easier to search, easier to keep up to date and avoids the environmental impact of printing onto paper.

Ditto with service books. As long as there is no difficulty giving other people access to that information (eg; if you sell the car the recipient can get the service information on request) I think it's a great idea.

I got a sealed pack of manuals & service record (which I had to fill in the car details myself - VIN etc).

I understand it’s unusual to recieve them these days

I don’t think Toyota have given a. Service book for some years. My Prius is 2016, I bought it 2018 from a Toyota dealer. I par ex my Gen3 Prius and gave them a fully stamped service book, but I didn’t get one, only noticed when I got home - dealer 100 mile away. Salesman didn’t answer my request for the service book so I emailed the dealer principle. Got an apology and a service book, but not the original, it was freshly completed Now when the car goes in for service at Lindop I ensure the book is stamped.

Sounds like it depends on the dealer then. I can empathise when it comes to the owners manual, much easier to search a PDF (or some cars have a lot of guidance baked into the menus) rather than dragging out a donkey-choker of paper. But I do like a service booklet - they're not a lot of paper and it's nice to have evidence of proper maintenance quickly to hand. Also makes it much easier to go the independent garage route.

I disagree. I find it far easier taking a printed copy out to the car rather than carrying a laptop or trying to read a small screen on a mobile phone. Quite often you look for one thing in the manual then it sends you to another page. Stick a bookmark in and flick from one page to another, far more simple in my opinion.

Yes, the Queensferry depot. They have another just outside Wrexham. Both are in Wales of course.
