i need new shockers on the front the bounce test by leaning on the car does not give the multiple bounces i would expect but i think the standard spring are quite stiff so this is giving a gind of false reading. it definetly moves about to much at the front and i have checked mostly everything else. anyway. things i want to know. i have standard everything in the suspension setup just now.

1. what have others used and in what combination and if you liked or disliked.

2. if i replace the shockers do i have to or should i replace the springs also.

3. how much a difference does it make to handeling and ride quality if i lower it or get stiffer spring or stronger shockers ect.

4. just any information you have to do with any setup you have used or if your mate used ect i would be greatful as there seem many different ways to go. :P

Hi,

Just fitted new shocks to mine and I went for the KYB gas shocks from fensport.co.uk. Partnumber for the fronts ST202 is 365092

These are inserts so there is a nut to undo on the old shocker housing and they just slip in. Entire job for both took me just over an hour !!!

If it is an import, don't even worry about it and let other suppliers tell you any different, the parts are identical.

As far as lowering the car, as long as you don't go too far, it should be fine. But there comes a point where you sacrifice ride for looks up to a point where you completely destroy the handling of the car.

For me, I left the standard springs on for the reasons above. But I might one day opt for these on eBay. Then you can experiment as much as you like until you find the ideal balance.

i lowered mine using 35 mm drop jamex , bought for £84 including delivery from topgear.you get a bit of back chat from the rears on a bumpy ride , apart from that everything else is fine, oh and i have 17" alloys on which lifts the chassis off the ground , but you still get the lowered effect at the arches , the old 15" made it seriously low to the ground and speed bumps could be a problem if entered too fast.
