Central door work only from passenger side - Yaris 2004

Hi everyone,

I have recently bought a 2004 model Yaris and I can centrally lock this car only from passenger side. If I lock from driver side it locks all doors except passenger door. Is this a default setup of Yaris? Much appreciated any help to solve this issue if its a error.

Thanks in advance.

How many keys do you have ? It should have remote central locking, unless it's a base 1.0 car

LHD car ?

do all doors lock and unlock from the lock switch in the car ?

Edit. Does the interior light come on if you open the driver or passenger door

Hmm, that's odd - Do you mean using a key? In both my Mk1s there was no lock on the passenger side, just a blanking plate; Only the driver's side had a mechanical lock!

Or do you mean using the remote??

The only thing I can think of is a dodgy lock motor, by using a key you are mechanically locking the door, so using the passenger door locks all door

Thank you all for the quick response.

It is a Yaris 2004 P1 car and this car does not have a remote. I use the key to lock and unlock the car. I can lock and unlock all doors including driver side from the passenger  , inside or out side. But If I lock the car from driver side  then it lock every door except the passenger side. I thought it is some sort of setting, but it is really annoying.

Thanks for the reply!

I have two keys and it is a base model without remote control locking. I can lock all door  using the passenger side lock switch.

Regarding the interior light ,  I am sure it comes on when I open the driver door.  I have not checked the same with passenger side. I will do that.

So you think the lock motor on the driver side does not work or the passenger side?

Ah, manual locks only, that's why it has a passenger-side lock!

I think flash is on the right track - lock motor in the passenger-side has a wiring problem or is faulty... Does it have its own fuse do you think?

The passenger side door lock motor, you need to check the voltage when locking/unlocking

Thanks a ton for all of your replies!

I did more testing based on your comments and I found two things.

1. When I lock or unlock all doors  from driver side (inside the car) there is a voltage variation happens.

2. When I  lock passenger side from inside it locks only the passenger side. But if I lock the door from out side it lock all doors.

3. The interior lights comes on when I open any door  including the passenger side.

I will check the fuse box to see if this car has a fuse for passenger side  door.  I will also check the voltage on the lock motor.

I will update you later.

It all is controlled from the central locking module, if you have power to the lock motor on the passenger door, the lock motor is bad (part of the door lock)
