I’ve just bought a 2015 toyota aygo

It says to connect my phone through the USB and then when i go on connect it should have an option saying ‘NAV’

Mine only comes up with ‘launch the application on iphone’

can anyone help? as i’m wanting sat nav on my screen but i don’t know any applications i need or how to connect it. nothing seems to be working

The sat nav function of the second generation, pre facelift Aygo (2014-2018), called X-Nav,  was an add on module to the head unit, rather than being app based. Without the module, you don't have sat nav.

You would be best to search for a later used head unit (touch screen stereo) which has three buttons on the front rather than two, as a direct replacement for your existing unit. These will be compatible with sat nav apps such as Apple Carplay and Android Auto. For example:

Or ask your Dealer the cost of  the Nav Module for your car.

On the earlier 2 button unit (fitted from 2014 until late 2018) the only way to get sat nav is to buy the add-on x-nav adapter - they are not cheap, see X-nav. Plus the maps are on a micro-SD card see x-nav maps. As well as the costs there's the question of how long Toyota will support it as it's no longer in production.

As FROSTYBALLS says your best option is to find one of the later 3 button units which are a direct plug'n'play replacement and support CarPlay & Android Auto so you can use Google Maps or Apple Maps, they often appear on eBay and at car breakers (such as Small Cars R Us Ltd).

Crap, just purchased an sdcard for this, but found out I do not have the slot as I only have the X-touch from this 2017 X-style. I wonder if the x-nav adaper is still purchaseable?

Yes you can get the x nav, but it's not worth the money you are better off in the long run looking for a triple play 3 button unit or go aftermarket
