2011 Avensis estate boot won't open

Hi, hoping for some advice, my 2011 Avensis estates boot will not open. The central locking works throughout the rest of the car. I can open it manually through climbing in the back seats, but would like to fix the problem.

What's the most likely cause and solution?

Thanks ,. Jim

It is possible that the electric door lock is not work for some reason. Hopefully a detached power supply connection at the lock itself or the handle. Reminds me of the Fiat 500 known rear hatch handle issue, which I fixed for a friend. The handle spindle was out of place. Hopefully the Avensis is just as simple to fix.

The tailgate trim will need to be removed to check everything, fix or replace as necessary.

Could be a break in the wire to the locking devise. Check by using a meter when you have the boot open. Should indicate a 12 volt connection when you release for boot open
