Hi new member here, according to my salesman who I placed a order with last week it is the retail price that is listed at time of order, not the price when first registered. I hope he is right.

Note that the list price is the retail price published by the manufacturer before the vehicle is passed to the dealer for registration. This includes the price of any non-standard options, VAT, delivery charges to the dealership, and pre-delivery inspection charges. It is not the same as the OTR price, which includes VED and the first year registration fee.

Well, I for one agree with that - though I may be in a minority.

The dealer's quotation for mine, clearly breaks down the pricing elements so that I can see the 'list price' - retail price, factory options and delivery charge (inc VAT) - as distinct from VED, first registration fee and dealer discount. And it is that 'list price' that is used when my vehicle is first registered rather than the 'list price' of another vehicle that I didn't purchase!

Of course, the rate of VED and first registration fee is not under the dealer's control so had the government changed that between order and registration I would have been liable for the higher rate of tax ...

With the leased car, most vendors have a line in T&C that any increase in VED will be passed on to the customer. If it is a company car, then you will not see it. Happened to me a few years back on PCH.

You may well be correct as the VED amount on the online order (which has the new price) is still showing as £210 for the first year the same as previously, or someone has just missed, we will see.

My cousin bought a new Mercedes-Benz  3  years ago, it was below £40K at time of ordering , but over £40K list price at time of delivery, he has had to pay the Extra £335 + normal  VED for years 2 - 6  ,so be warned !

Fully Electric vehicles have £0 VED , whatever the list price.

Keep safe

Paul

Ouch! That's a kick to the nadgers... How did that happen? The price changed under him because of delays? I would have made the dealer pay that or just rejected it... that's like a quarter of my fuel bill a year!

Just been on the Toyota site and mine totaled £39404 with my chosen options, 2wd Excel with premium and protection+ packs.

Protection pack can be dealer accessories so keeps the list price lower. However that sounds expensive for the 2wd version, I thought that was about the price of the AWD?

I would drop the protection pack as you can get better value of eBay by buying separately, you would need to fit the Mud flaps and the bumper protector but its not high tech stuff.

It does seem high but the premium pack is almost £1700 on its own and I have looked at my order taking into account the latest price increases and thats the figure that was quoted, the AWD was well over £40k with the same equipment

I looked at the equipment separately and it either came in at the same price or slightly more, plus I don't have to fit the mud flaps, whilst an easy job if there is nothing in the price then someone else can do it, that leaves me more time to enjoy the drive 😁
