When I bought my car most insurers knew nothing about it due to the name change. I was eventually forced to extend the dealer cover to a full year because only the Toyota insurer would offer me cover and even then they had to record it as an Auris. When it came time to renew the Toyota insurer was more than double everyone else at £550. That was for a 53 year-old with 21 year's no claims bonus living in a safe town and the car kept in a locked garage over night! Since then curiously my premiums have either stayed the same or dropped. I think I'm currently paying £220 with Tesco.

I have a service plan but the upcoming service in March will be the last covered by the plan I think. I'll have to decide if I'll extend it. Depends whether I think it likely I'll be changing the car soon. Ordinarily year three is when I start looking around but I want my next car to be a BEV and since I'm now only doing 5k miles a year and I've still not reached 20k on this one it seems very silly to change. But I've got a couple of very old, very small pensions that I could cash in to pay for it. Depends how badly I want a new toy and if/when Toyota finally produce one that I'd like.
