2021 Yaris Hybrid dashboard Rattle/Vibration

Grasmere Yaris

Vibration/ Rattle initially from front left console but now on right as well. Not due to loud music or bass. Not continuous or very time!

Heard some talk of hard plastics when cold and just wonder has anyone else noticed this?

Whilst back in for checks nothing found and as usual all quiet for a week or 2 then it comes back.

Very noticeable the other week in Scotland when it was Baltic.

Plenty of dashboard rattles in my MK2.

On the front passenger side where the dashboard meets the windscreen in the corner is where it came from, I used some black tac ( stronger than blue tack ) and shoved it down the gap and now much quieter.

Seems as though when I fix one rattle another starts.

Check under the bonnet if the lever has come out of place as this also used to cause a rattle

My Auris also has dashboard rattling sometimes, it seems to me that depends on outside temperature plus inside temperature plus if the car been exposed to the direct sunlight, any changes in temperature of the plastics and here we have it , not always though. Even sometimes after an hour or more drive in the cold weather with heating on set at 22c° and then when I stop and stay inside the car with heating off  I can hear the plastics cooling down and cracks, my previous car use to make that noises but metal ones from the exhaust manifold heat shield, this one doesn’t but dashboard has some character 🤣, not bothered though, I have also the famous seat springs squeaking, hahah it’s a Toyota not a Bentley 😅

I can remember the times when I started to worry when the rattling stopped 😝

Hahaha

Russian style 🇷🇺
If it’s rattling means it’s there and it’s ok

when rattling stops 😱means the part it’s gone and here is where the trouble is coming 🥳😎

Cars are not tested in production for squeaks and rattles. They do test for these, but in design stages, then on audit basis.

Parts tolerances also play a part. Fit and finish are often more important than squeaks and rattles. If Design teams receive repetitive complaints, they will look into it and introduce a fix, but this will only be for production cars, not cars already sold. These will be dealt with on a complaint basis only.

So, key is, to keep complaining until they pinpoint the issue and introduce a fix.

Slight ticking sound coming from the front right inside the car when going over bumpy roads, seems to be  by the " A pillar " maybe a loose cable ?

Cleaning the dash and surrounding areas with a silicone based dash cleaner will help reduce the noise caused by slight vibration (squeaking). In my C-HR (and this may also apply to the Yaris), I pressed down on the panels I thought were the cause of the rattle. By elimiating each panel in turn I traced the rattle. I reported this to the Dealer, who fixed the issue.

Everything (almost) has remained rattle/squeak free after almost 8 years and I'm quite impressed by that.

The only rattle is from the diagnostic socket, right side, under dash. That only occurs with some road surfaces and whichever way the wind is blowing!

I’ve found my C-HR to be void of any squeaks and rattles since owing it. The only rattle I have is from my phone holder.

No rattles in my 5 year old Prius EXCEPT for the wifes false teeth. ☺️ and if she reads this you will understand why I wont be posting anymore.

You should know better. I was going to say something about Les Dawson, but I went looking at the wikipedia first and decided he probably wasn't so bad 😀 (or his missus was very tolerant!)

My Auris is now close to 200k miles mark and it’s over 11 years old, sometimes does rattles from dashboard, steering wheel column, seatbelt touching b pillar, squeaky seats but the thing is that all that happens only sometimes and I had noticed it depends on temperature changes and direct sun heat, other times the car is quiet as German top brands without any rattling or squeaking for days and surprises me how well it’s holding up through the years. When starting to rattle I learned not to pay much attention to it and then after a while it stops. Never bother to try getting fixing it. Ain’t broken ain’t touching it, another valuable thing I had learned through the years of driving experience 👌🎄 Happy new year to all 🙂

Got some rattle from the top of the left A pillar (driver side) on my new 2021 Yaris. It's not the sun visor, and it's not the panel covering the pillar. Probably something inside it.

Like the WD40 silicone cleaner/lubricant?

I've never used WD40 to clean a dash. Motul dash cleaner is has silicone in it, as do many other dash cleaners.

Can't be a great idea spraying lubricant around the dashboard due to cabling underneath ?

Is this still an issue or did you solve the problem?

I found that my 2021 Toyota Yaris does a ticking noise occasionally on bumpy roads. It sounds like the plastic is expanding or contracting. It comes from the left-hand side of the car but I'm not sure from where exactly. Any idea what could it be?
