Spring Knocking

I have 1994, 2.0 Celica ( jap import).

I bought it last year direct from an import dealer with the full kit on and lowered.

Most of the time when going round corners it makes a knocking noise coming from the front suspension. It sounds as if the spings are rubbing somewhere.

Can anybody help me on eliminating this problem please?

does it knock on smooth surfaces also , and does it knock mostly on a full lock and if so which direction left or right. or does it knock in a straight line also.

if it knocks when on full lock or whilst turning , it sounds very much like the top hat on the struts in not on correctly , there is a slot on top of the strut for the top hat to sit in , when its fittied wrongly it bangs on cornering usually the direction you turn is the guilty strut.

Yes it knocks on full lock or when I'm turning. It happens about 80% of the time, depends how quick/hard I turn. Not sure if it's both sides?

I'll have a look tomorrow.

Could tell me the best way to check it, as I'm not that sure.

all you can do is strip the struts off and rebuild them in the correct way.making sure alll goes back where it should.try turning the wheels lock to lock whilst parked it should still knock if its what i think it is.

Are you running standard wheels and tyres? Check for any signs of tyres rubbing on inner wings. esp at the top of the arch. :)
