Which is better to buy on long term. Toyota estima areas hybrid or just the 2.4 petrol version areas?

I would like to buy a mpv, very much confused. Don’t know which will be best for myself… 2.4 toyota estima areas hybrid or 2.4 petrol version areas? Can’t get a proper answer. I have spoken to some import car dealers. They have not given me honest answer on which is a better fuel efficient and reliable mpv will be? Please could someone explain. I do about 6000 miles a year.  Can someone nail it on the head other than scare me with you will need to buy a hybrid batttery once it goes?

i was in the same situation as you but i what for the 2.4 petrol. because if the hybrid side needs a new Battery it will cost you about £1000 or more. all so toyota main dealer will not touch it has it is not import. my toyota estima 2.4 will do 34 mpg doing 70 mph. if you do buy 2.4 hybrid make sure you know a independent garage that will look after the hybrid side of the car.

So to pakman did you buy a non hybrid version or a hybrid? And do both run on super unleaded or e10 fuel.... I am not to keen on the hybrid system only because we have a specialist who is always keen on just replacing the Battery. But the imports you can change individual cells. I have tried to get stats on petrol version 2.4 and hybrid version there is nothing which is bonafide. I have spoken to some dealers who have only tried to sell the stock they have rather than explain which is the better car.....

Is buying the petrol version a better option... rather than the hybrid version if you want to keep car long term....or the hybrid one despite the hybrid Battery packing up. I own a toyota prius. Gen 2 it is going very strong. Only 49k on clock. Second owner a dream to drive. But due to new baby we need a mpv to aid our needs...

Your petrol version estima what are roughly the figures for local mpg and motor way mpg.... roughly with new petrol prices how much is full tank....

hi i bought a hybrid.

previously had prius hybrid and was no trouble for 16 years.

batteries can be replaced by individual cells at reasonable cost .

total replacement best done by upgrading the batt to new spec ,better returns and power.

best wishes
