Having a repeating problem of car going into limp mode.
Taken car to mechanic on several occasions
work done to fix problem so far has been
1, replace turbocharger vacuum regulating valve.
2,  service /recondition turbo
3, replace faulty sub catalytic converter assembly.
After all this work to fix the problem and some large bills
car is still occasionally going into limp mode with same error code P1251
Does anybody have any suggestions what to do next?

hello

this means overboost after turbocharger. Check if all vanes are easy rotated around pins + vacuum impulse tube to be clean.

the problem is pass between vanes. in details - when you rev engine the turbocharged picks up your desire but the vanes remain in the same position at all RPM of turbocharger. but it must be changed automatically (using an impulse vacuum tube and mechanism). be sure vanes are smoothly rotated; impuls is free of obstackles.

cheers \ Igor

  • 2 years later...

Hi,

I had this same P1251 problem randomly coming over a year. Car felt like there was no power even when there was no limp mode or fault codes. Just when I thought I start to do same things that everybody else has done, came out P0340 code. That's camshaft position sensor. I wipe this code out few times but it came back after few days. So I bought new sensor and replaced it. After that car worked perfect. There was power again, no limp modes, no check engine light. It felt like a new car again.

I thought that when this sensor is coming end of its days, it might cause all these synmptoms.

Anyway, just wanted to tell my experience if there is still some one out there who is trying to find answers these problems
