I have 1632 in my key, which is smaller than 2032, and has smaller capacity, but still i change it 1x per year.

I haven't pushed it so far to get the "Battery low" message, but i presume life expectancy is maybe about 1.5 yrs.

The cells are a standardized fitment in the sockets that are not, the Toyota ones are a tight fit

OP is having fob issues, perhaps the tab under the cell needs a slight tweak to insure better contact

@Cyker a thicker heavery cell to give that premium feel - they did this sort of thing with TV remotes, add a bit of weight to make it feel higher quality and cut customer complaints in half, but it is the same crappy remote

For anyone finding coin cells that seem to go flat when not used then this might be of interest:

Well I'm hoping it won't need changing for ages, since the 2450 has twice the energy capacity of a 2032!

I'm not mistaken, that is how those batteries are nominated.  I suggest it is you who had made the mistake of maybe not having the correct battery? i.e. putting a 2016 in the place of a 2032?

Just like AA batteries, some are fractions of a mm different. If you wish learn about it you, view the technical specs online for the different brands.

Same goes for tagged coin cells with slightly different capacities.

IIRC CR2032 has a tolerance of minus 0.30mm (12 thou in old money) from spec, you may also have a deflection of the negative terminal

Out of curiosity, for those of you that service at a Toyota dealer, have they *ever* changed the Battery in your remote on a major service?

I don’t expect them to, it is not listed, but if I have requested they changed it for £4, now I do it myself.

Huh, I thought it was part of the Full and Full+ service - It is definitely listed on the sheet I have!

Admittedly that sheet is quite old, as they stopped publishing them on the website...

I only ask as I have deffo caught my local one charging me for the coin cell but not changing it in the past!

We change them on all major services (20K) Anyone using Toyota/CDK menu pricing has the Battery as part of the menu pricing setup, not all dealers use that system
