The garage confirmation for my booking tomorrow said it is an ECU update so fingers crossed less false warnings.

I understand this, there are owners on here who have had these issue(s) just putting it out there for discussion and the fact that Toyota are aware of an issue that affects lots of cars worldwide

I understand that the root cause is contaminated gasoline but the fact that the cooler "does not provide the necessary durability for real operating conditions" means a bad design of the component or choice of materials.

yes, my thoughts exactly it effects a lot of Toyota's across a lot of engine types, no sign of it on earlier cars, so it's a material and/or they are not coated internally

raw alloy will corrode very quickly in these conditions

As unfortunate as it is for those affected, Toyota are not responsible, there should not be any Chlorine in fuel, those responsible are fuel storage, shipping or retail as it is one of these causing the contamination and they need to take action / be held accountable for their failings.
