Maps for CD Touch and Go Plus

Hi folks, 

This is my first post on this forum, as I recently bought a 2014 avensis 2.0 d4d. Drives very nicely and hoping to keep it for a while. 
 So my question is this .. how can I update the firmware and/or maps? 
I contacted my local uk Toyota dealer and they said that Suport for the cd system (touch and Go plus) is no longer supported only the SD or USB ?? (I think) 

What are others doing, living with old maps or is there another way … Also is there any need to update the firmware? I would like to keep it up to date if possible, but only if there is a benefit.

I can't comment specifically about the 2014 Avensis, but I log into the My Toyota site and then have the option to buy maps in the eStore.

Interesting..  And how do you then get the data onto your satnav Is it through an app?

So what I have discovered is, touch and go, and touch and go plus sat nav are now unsupported as of 2018. touch and go 2 is supported and updated via SD card. Some update original disks are available on eBay for the older system, up until 2018 (1G) and one enterprising chap is issuing 2021 maps on a DVD ready to instal! I might do this .. but more likely to just go back to using Google maps on my phone. My maps are 2012 so ok on the big roads, but not great in town. 
 

Ok so my cars 8 years old, it’s not new, I’m my world it’s not very old either. Toyotas are renowned for their longevity.  I would be even more unimpressed if I had bought this in 2018, 4 years into a cars to find I could no longer update the maps. 
 

technology marches on, and this system is already a foot note.
