20+ Bhp

Hi all,

I've seen some chips on eBay (£20ish) for Yarii which claim to give 20+ Bhp. They are apparently easy to install as you use a "piggyback" technique. I am a novice with these things and indeed the Yaris, as some may know I've only had the SR for a few weeks, but would like to gain a bit more from the engine.

Has anyone bought and fitted something similar? Opinions / advice?

Cheers

Don't bother .. it's only a 20p resistor ..

if its one of these £4 thingys then its a-load of rubbish, you can by them in maplins for pennies. not sure quite what there ment to do but 20BHP for 4 quid! something dont quite sound right there.

if you want more power get the engine breathing properly first but thats unfotunatly gonna cost a fair bit more that £20 :(

Don't be tempted by the £20-£40 option either, it's the same resistor in a neat little box. Does bugger all except fuel your engine into thinking it's cool when it's actually hot. Not clever!

That 20p resistor will cost u hell of a lot of money to repair. it tricks the engine into pumping more fuel therefore flooding it. the excess fuel gets caught in the cat, causing you will fail your m.o.t and probably damage your cat forever. STEER CLEAR. Real engine ECU chips sell for around 200 - 300 pounds they totally remap your fuel and air intake, however this is only useful for top performance cars. You aint gonna squeeze 20+ BHP from a little yaris engine that only produces 80-100 break! its just not physically possible without forced induction, soz meight! like the way of most eBay its a CON

Thanks again everyone.

I shall leave well alone and save up the money for a nice TSport instead  hehe. Always wanted one of those, even more so with the SR as my introduction to Yarii... one more year to wait though until I'm 25...
