Getting headlights on with ignition

Hi guys,

I have a 2010 Auris and would like the sidelights & headlights to come on with the ignition. My initial thoughts are to simply wire an ignition feed to the sidelights/headlight relay, if there is one.

Do you think this is feasible and if so can anyone tell me where the sidelight/headlight relay is?

Regards

Bob Jeffries

I think there are even kits for this, question is how good are you with DIY.

Is you car does not have DRL, maybe it's better to install DRL kit instead, that comes with ignition on, and switch your lights to auto.

Thanks for the reply furtula. I'm a very competent DIY'er (ex electrical and electronics engineer and have built a kit car).

If I could locate the headlight relay I think it would be pretty straight forward to wire an ignition supply to it so that whenever the ignition is switched on the headlight relay is energised. A simple cheap solution.

You should be able to piece it all together from on line material. If all else fails just get someone to turn the lights on and off while you listen. You might need to add some simple diode gating to allow the lights switch to operate independently if required and not back feed into the ignition feed.
