PHEV... what software version should I be on?

Nick, the navigation software is version 2021 v2. I updated mine by logging into the MyToyota web based portal, going to the e-store, maps there is the version to download priced at £119. Go through the process of buying and in the end it discounts the cost to zero and allows the download. I expanded the zip file onto a Usb and upgraded the maps via the USB, needs some time.

The rest is via the settings see Toyota Sat Nav 2021 manual section 2-4, page 57, software update.

Mine, being slightly older and a HEV at that, shows Audio version 1075 and Navigation version 1130. But since it works perfectly well at the original factory set level I'm not minded to mess with that at all. Maybe something will come up in the future ...

Mine shows navdb_version 2021 v1 because that's when I last updated the map via the rather long-winded USB process but that's not the whole story. On the Toyota Online > Map update information page it shows:

  • Map DB version 2021 v1
  • 2021 v2 region GB,IE

So, while I have an earlier version of the rest of the European mapping I do have the latest version of the maps for my home region. This was achieved via an OTA (over the air update) as I believe Nick started a while ago ...

Map updates over the air are achieved via the Toyota Online settings page. You need a WiFi connection and to remain 'online' while the update is downloaded which shouldn't take too long but is dependent on the speed of your connection (obviously). It then takes an age to install but that can be stopped and started as you drive around if necessary.

Latest DCU is 1170 fixing:

  • DCU Software release version 1170:

    • When listening to the radio via bluetooth, sometimes it is not possible to cancel traffic announcement.

Latest MEU is also 1170 fixing:

  • MEU Software release version 1170:

    • Navigation freezes due to a particular Point of Interest set as destination.

    • Error during map update (update stops at package 9 or 13 with error message appearing).

    • Icon showing "No GPS reception" not displayed when route guidance is not active and there is no GPS reception.

As accessing the updates either at your dealer or via toyota-tech.eu however note access here is chargable.
