Condensation inside front window camera unit

So just came to use the car for the first time in over a week and with the current cold weather waited the customary age for the windscreen to demist. On driving off I now find several systems like auto full beam and lane keeping assist no longer work. On closer inspection after a longish drive the area where the camera looks out through the windscreen is fogged up. Anyone else had this problem? I think this is a serious safety issue and to be honest I this may be the final straw for me. I hate the car more and more as time goes by and it’s time to admit I made a mistake buying it and go back to a better thought out car.

Not just Toyotas -  any car with similar camera/sensor units can be affected in the same way.

One evening last week when I collected my wife from the clinic she practises from, we had condensation in the camera/sensor unit which disabled the Forward Collision Warning system in our Hyundai. First time in almost two years this has happened. OK next morning and since.

Widely reported fault over on the Peugeot forum across multiple different products.

A small hearing element either directly in the glass or maybe in the housing maybe a product improvement idea.

From memory, Toyota did this with earlier versions of the Toyota Safety System fitted to the Auris.

Thanks for finding that. This is surprising. It’s either not working in mine or completely ineffective since even after 30 minutes driving, the auto full beam system refused to dip and the lane departure system could not register the lane to depart from. No idea about the road sign recognition because that wouldn’t work even if the sign fell on the car.

Our 2021 Yaris clears the warning in less than 5 mins after starting when frozen

The part highlighted purple is called a "Hood sub assy, forward recognition camera with heater
