Hi legends I have a 2002 Corolla and I can't change the temperature of the air it just blows hot all the time. Has anyone else had this problem and is there an easy fix. It would be ok if it was winter but it's summer here and I would love some cold air con. Cheers

Would think yours has the rotary heater controls rather than the digital ones ?

It could be the cable from the control knob to the damper flap that has come loose or a fault with the damper flap itself that causing it to be stuck in one position.

Hi @oldcodger and thanks for your reply. It is the digital display in the car, the numbers change when pressing the Temperature up and down button but it still blows hot all the time, also when pressing the Mode button there seems to be no difference in directional flow, fan speed is able to be changed.

I'll try operating it with the panel off if that is possible, to see if anything obvious is happening or not.

cheers

As its digital its operated by a little motor along with some gears and arms, you should be able to see them operating by looking  under the dashboard, you might have to remove the little bottom cover just 2 screws.

On my UK model its on the right hand side of the car.

It could be a faulty motor or possibly a broken plastic part/gear or the actual damper flap slipping/broken  etc.

You could try this diagnostic and see if it can sense any fault.

Thanks again for your help.

Unfortunately the diagnostic didn't work on my panel.

Upon further exploration I found a connector box disconnected and this lead me to find the broken motor/actuator as seen in the attached photo. Hopefully a trip to the dismantles will solve the problem.

Thanks again @ole codger
