Grey /blue smoke from exhaust pipe

Hi all experts

For about 2 years ago my Avensis 2.2 D-CAT - 2007 started to smoke a mix of grey and blue smoke.

The smoking mostly occurs when the engine is about 60-75 C degrees and when the engine is at idle temperature the smoking stops. It all takes maybe 5 min.

Sometimes when I make a "heavy" acceleration I see a bit blue smoke, but not when I'm running idle speed.

Also sometimes I have experienced that the engine is hesitating when I accelerate. (Knock on wood) This I have experienced maybe 30 times  over the 2 years.

Told the mechanic at the workshop, but they couldn't find anything wrong with the engine. No oil leak, nothing in the OBD and nothing other obvious failure.

I have been thinking if the problem could be in a defect Lambda censor that is just not registered in the computer?

Looking forward to hear your suggestions.

Regards

Pierre

Blue smoke under acceleration generally means oil consumption so keep a watchful eye on the oil levels.

In this case, it probably isn't oil consumption.

This subject has been done to death on this and many other forums, search the forum and you'll find it. Look at the Lexus forums too, as many Lexuses use that engine. I think you'll find that everybody is still waiting for the definitive answer as to what the cause is.

So what I hear you say is that this is a "common" problem with no solution, but also no problem on the short run?

Thanks

Pierre
