Yaris verso drive shaft clicking

Hi.

Recently our yaris verso has developed a clicking noise when you steer sharply , I guess its the drive shaft going bad.

 

Wonder if I can get away with replacing just the hub end CV joint rather than the whole thing , Is it usually the CV joint near the wheel that fails?

When's your MOT due? They'll only pick it up if it's 'excessively worn'. Yes, it's probably the outer CV joint. Find a quiet car park and use full lock, forwards and backwards to see how bad it is.

I can hear it from inside the the car.

I am going to order the parts , However I have seen there is a little circlip on the shaft , does that have to be removed for the CV joint to be knocked out?

When Installing new cv joint , Do you just hammer it home with a rubber mallet  and it slides over that circlip thingy?
