2.2 D-CAT TR 2010

Hi all

New to the forum, huge Toytota fan, have owned a Yaris MK1 1.4 D-4D, a Yaris 1.3 Auto and a Prius for a short period. Now looking at the above car. I’m not able to find much on the forum around what to look out for/faults.

I like the versatility, space, and for longer journeys the Diesel engine. However conscious that Diesel engine aren’t great for short in-town trips which I will also be doing throughout the week. And have heard nightmare stories about DPF filters in general.

It might be more sensible for me to go for a Prius, hybrid, petrol, minimal tax and unlikely to depreciate as Deisels get phased out. However I don’t like the look or the drive (the movement in particular when putting parking brake on is so unnerving!) and it’s not exactly the most nippy.

I’ve not test drived the Verso. Would love to hear from owners about common faults, what to look out for when buying used and the drive experience in general. Also what are service/parts costs like?

im looking for reliability, fuel economy, longevity and comfort. I’ll be doing mix of city driving during the week, short-med trips on dual carriageway/m-way on weekends with some long trips thrown in throughout the year. I have a 3 year old, likely expanding family and elderly mother to consider too.

Thanks in advance! 😊
