@Roy124 pointed me to this app. basically it has divided the world in to squares of approx. 10 metres².

One of it's features, and probably the most useful, is that starting with one of those squares identified by, say ///snoring.chucks.armed, which identifies one of those squares, you can then pass that identifier to a GPS app, such as Waze, Google Maps, etc.

Have any of you been using this app, and that function ?

I did try just once using my phone.  It was in a large car park and my brother in law was parked out out sight.  It was a perfect opportunity to show him the benefit.

It was a spectacular failure as it placed my car in a housing estate a half mile away.  I haven't tried since 😁

By all accounts it does work and has been used many times.

Oops! That's a shame, because it looks like it can really pinpoint a location, when even if you give the exact address, most GPS are way off!

It has helped many fell walkers that have fallen, broke and make, and been able to get medical help.

Mme Stopeter44 fell and broke ankle some months ago, and although I was able to guide the Helicopter to where we were, it certainly would have been better if I could have given them a precise location with the app. We were out of sight under tree cover, so "chapeau" to the French Gendarme rescue service !
