Parking sensors problem

I don't often use the parking sensors, but noticed this week that I get unhappy bleeps and a warning if I switch it on. So I don't know how long it's been faulty.

Having sniffed around with a bat detector, it gives me clicks at all four of the rear sensors but nothing at the front. The idea that four front sensors have all failed seems a bit far-fetched, so I'm thinking there will be a more central point of failure. Does anyone know where these things connect to? Is a bat detector a valid diagnostic tool? 

Any tips? Dreading the expensive visit to Mr Toyota.
