I ordered a new Toyota Yaris Hybrid beginning of January 2022, dealership tells me that it arrives in his dealership tomorrow, am I lucky or what?? I thought it wouldn’t be here for months.

Did you order a standard vehicle which has perhaps been sat in a field for a few months Bernard ?

It’s not the basic model John but the next one up. When I contacted the dealership they offered me a choice of two metallic colors, either black or silver I chose the silver because I’ve had four black Toyota’s and they show up the least speck of dust/dirt, and I’m not up to constantly having to wash and polish, I wouldn’t even think of taking it to the car wash. So I chose the latest silver color. I can’t imagine many Toyota’s Yaris Hybrids sitting in a field fo months, more likely cancelled orders of buyers who couldn’t wait any longer and cancelled their orders.

I ordered the latest color of silver Yaris Hybrid. It’s not the basic model, but the next level up. In Britain what are the spec levels called David??

If memory serves, it’s the “Design” spec, very high level of basic specification. Has most of the good stuff. It would be what my dealer referred to as the “heart of the range”.

Well Peter, I got offered a good deal, just £2200/€3000 to get a 2022 Yaris Hybrid. Only 4,100 miles on the one I’m trading in. This is the best renew deal I’ve ever been offered. I’m thinking that with nearly new used cars going up in price that they already have a client waiting for my trade in. The deal included mudflaps, boot liner, and transferring front and rear dash cams to the new car.

Sounds like an excellent deal. What do you get on the MY22 Yaris, over the MY21 Yaris ?

I’m not sure if there’s anything different Peter!!. I noticed a Yaris Hybrid in their showroom and it didn’t have the Hybrid Badge on the wings, but I didn’t ask about that.

No hybrid Badge is the new thing. Maybe something to do with cat thefts and vehicle recognition.

All the UK Yaris cars are Hybrid, so a Badge is not needed, 2022 has minor interior changes and a few other spec changes, dealer may have had a cancelled order in the system, a sale looks better than a cancelled order on the system plus they make more money from a used car than new

 

i have been contacted by a few dealers with their "special" events - April being the end of the tax year and yearly bonus time

All Prius for 22 years have been hybrid and with a Badge.

I'll miss the Hybrid Badge... I like badges on cars! Always makes it seem more special if it had e.g. Turbo or GTI or 16V or something on it  

I suppose it'd make cleaning the car easier, as it'd be one less thing I have to get a toothbrush out to dig all the damned moss/algae out of...!

Yes it’s a bit finicky getting in and around the badges when buffing off the polish haze.

France Spec Yaris has the hybrid Badge on the hatch, but not on the wings.

Irish market has non-hybrid Yaris, looks like you ordered the Luna Sport, or something like it ? It's the step up from basic with most of the goodies? doesn't look like it has the parking sensors, though.

Interestingly, the pure white option is extra cost in Ireland, it's the base colour in France, and there's a sort of powder blue available, too which we can't get. As noted, the Hybrid Badge only appear on the tailgate, and to the right, and not at all on the wings - contrary to the Yaris III.
