Imported 1997 Toyota Corolla for sale - £150

Hi

We need to sell our much loved Corolla as we live in the London ULEZ area and can't afford to use the car anymore. It's not worth much but we'd rather it went to a good home - or even for parts - than be scrapped. It seems such a waste.

I've put some details below but would happily supply any more information if you let me know. If you can say why you could offer this car a good home, I'd even consider less money for it.

  • E110 1.5L GLi five door. Green colour
  • Bought new by us in Hong Kong in 1997 then imported when we moved to the UK
  • 108 km on the odometer, MOT until 17/02/2022
  • Good air con!
  • Works well but not ULEZ compliant so must sell.
  • Problems: no n/s wing mirror (though still MOT compliant); dent in the boot lid.
  • Thanks 1

Hi Owen, and welcome to TOC.  Looks a nice car, pity about the reason you having to sell.

Thanks Joe. It is a shame but, hopefully, I can find a good home for it.

That sucks  Hate this ULEZ thing so much for making people get rid of perfectly serviceable cars for no good reason. I doubt that one is even a major contributor to pollution, esp. compared to all the SUVs people have been changing to!

Hello Owen,

I would love to save your car. In the spirit of Toyota, my family are running a 1995 Celica, A silver Paseo st of the same era, and a 2002 Toyota Yaris T Sport. It would, as you say, be a horrible crime to see your car go just for scrap, and I would be very happy to collect. How do we proceed?

My best,

Paul

hello Wasim,

it very much looks as though the car has sold, but the owner hasn't checked back to this thread to tell us.

My best,

Paul

Good evening all. Apologies, it's been a bit busy. The dealer came to pick up the car with a loader yesterday. I did have a few offers of interest from others but they came too close to the expiry of the MOT to make collection practical.

Hello Owen,

I wrote to you on the 10th of February above, fully showing interest. I could have collected within two days, and five days before the MOT expired on the 17th.

If your car was collected yesterday, and your MOT expired on the 17th of February, it had stood fully six days without MOT.

I don't believe the MOT made its collection impractical at all. You shot yourself in the foot offering the car for £150.

It is my opinion you were offered more from the dealer, and chose to ignore those parties interested on this forum.

Why bother dangling such a carrot if all you've achieved with me is to produce a stick to hit you with on a public forum!

As it is, I wasn't the first to make an offer here, and wasn't expecting to get it, I simply loath those who effectively neg on a deal.

I'm pretty sure I would have made a lovely car that has now most probably turned into yet another pile of over-priced parts for a greedy dealer.

Your's most definitely very disgusted ...
