Does anybody know if the new 2015> engine will fit in a 2012 model? I suspect I'd need the ECU from the new car as it has dual VVT-i (updated so the exhaust valves now have VVT). I found an ECU for the newer car for £50 so I can't imagine it'd be much more expensive to fit a newer engine assuming the ECU is compatible with the other electrical systems.

The cost of the replacement engine?

is it worth it or just change the car.

The dual VVT-i engine doesn't have significant emissions, torque or BHP improvements so I can't see the benefit?

Used mk1 aygo 1kr-fe engines are cheap and plentiful - mk2 runs a different ecu and has some major wiring changes it will not be plug and play, the biggest headache will be programming the security, vin and working out what doesn't work

Assuming, of course, that the original engine is still in good working order. The OP did not specify his reasons. 😇

If it isn't then, as flash22 says, a Mk1 engine will be a whole lot easier proposition.
