I have a 2021 Corolla 1.8 Hybrid and just fitted a tow bar.

Want to do the electrics and need to find a permanent live to feed the bypass, read you can take from the Battery or a live on the fuses which would be easier as not going through the bulk head.

Cant find the fuses anyone help me on this one please.

New on here so getting used to the site.

Hi there,

If you don't want to go through the buckhead there is a Fuse box underneath the glove box behind a trim panel, there are a few permanent lives there which you could piggy back of off but not sure if any are 12v which I assume you need?

Thanks for your reply David, had a quick look today took the glove box out but couldn't see much there were wires there, have a better look tomorrow.

Yes I need a 12v,surely they would all be 12v or am I wrong.

Was going to go off the Battery but looks very hard to go through the bulkhead.

Go to www.toyotatech.eu select General , Accessory Installation manuals... select your car from the drop down, select generation then Installation manual then Tow Hitch...

This will shows options for towing and allow you to download .PDF of how Toyota would install

One thing to note is that the Toyota kit includes an electronic module which provides a certain amount of integration with the other vehicle systems, so it won't be possible to copy the OEM setup without the module that's in their kit. I would tell you exactly what it does, except I've never used the tow hitch on mine yet 😆

I'm guessing it interacts with things like the instrument panel and rear parking sensors etc. I know for sure that it governs the 12v supply because I've checked with a test light. There's no wire directly from the fuses to the socket.

Thanks for sharing the resource, mine came already fitted to the car so it was interesting to see how it's done.

That's great Lee I would never have found that and it explains everything,so it's off the Battery which I would rather do and it shows where to go through the bulkhead.

Even shows where to route the wire.

Found removing the bumper and fitting the towbar easy enough but took my time as I didnt want to damage anything.

That you all for your help much appreciated.
