Let it snow, let it snow, let it.................

Driving in heavy snow today and a message popped up telling me to clear the parking assist sensors (and it showed which ones - middle 2 front). At 50 mph I decided not to 😂.

So I cancelled it - and it came on again within minutes. It obscures some information on the instrument panel whilst displayed and it is quite annoying. It also displays an icon showing that the parking sensors were now inoperative - surely that is sufficient until one gets to parking speeds where it could be programmed to come on again?

Anyone else experience of this?

Not having ever had parking assist sensors, that apart from being a bit annoying, the other scenario is if that warning wasn’t there and at the end of your journey and you went to park intending to use your parking assistance, it might cause you grief.

Snow, what's that? Never had that message but hardly had any snow this winter. You think some intelligence would have been applied that it only warned you when you wanted to park.

The sensors also operate if you are manoeuvring it tight spaces on the road. My home road is constantly being dug up, gas changing pipes, water company, cable company etc.,  no one wants to be left out so traffic lights pop up from time to time. The road is narrow (ish) and as cars also park on the road getting through when the lights are in your favour can be difficult, the sensors sound and show where things are close. I know this is effectively ‘parking’ but you might not know there was a problem with the sensors in this situation if they were snowed over.

Yesterday’s forecast for us was rain which quickly turned into snow, blanking out the radar collision avoidance system and parking sensors. They came on as I manage to pick up speed and could see the snow flip over the bonnet.

Maybe Toyota could reprogram it not to show that warning until the vehicle speed is 15 mph or below - a normal car park speed range.

Yep. But with the radar adaptive cruise. Message came up on the MID to say error. Light snow. Motorway.

So I cleared it. Only for it to return several seconds later. Repeat x10. So now I couldnt see any MID information.

Wasn't so bothered about the radar going wonky in the snow. More bothered that I'd seen the message, cancelled it and the !Removed! thing comes back and now I've lost info I need to see.

Had to stop at the services. Switched off then on again. All fixed. Never happened again.

That's computer for you, it's not working, turn it off and turn on.

Problem solved but can be a real bu**er if you driving a car.

Did you not switch off radar adaptive cruise? You enable radar adaptive cruise under the 'wrong' conditions the system rightly tells you that it's not working. If you clear that warning message but leave radar adaptive cruise enabled it should repeat the warning. If you switch off radar adaptive cruise it really should warn you about a system that you a trying not to use ...

Obviously, if you switch the engine off, when you restart radar adaptive cruise will not be enabled by default.

When I had this happen to me I tried both switching ACC off and leaving it alone.

You can have ours Tony - any time.

Winters are definitely getting milder - used to sell a couple of dozen snow blowers every season. Now I don't bother stocking them 🤨.

All was working fine. Light snow. Should be no problem for a mmW radar. Tried switching off etc at the time. First thing I tried. Made no difference. Message kept coming up.
