Our new to us, Aygo Blue, has air con, but suspect its out of gas. It needed a few jobs doing, like new discs and pads when we got it, but despite regular oil changes the previous owner didn't do much else.

The switch lights up, but the compressor isn't spinning which suggests pressure too low.  I can spin it independently when engine off. Anything to look for before I pop in for a regas.

Cautious about DIY refils as many air con places won't touch systems that have had DIY leak seal put in.

Before regassing the system a reputable place will do a check for leaks which will check for any problems.

The switch is an on/off type (it clicks) if it doesn't click it's a switch fault, it's a common fault on the triplets - it's a PSA part what are not the greatest quality

There will be a pressure safety switch to stop the air con compressor engaging if the refrigerant gas pressure is to low or to high.

Its there to stop expensive damage to the compressor.

The switch lighting up means the system has seen the command from the driver to activate the air conditioning system - but then the pressure safety switch says NO.

Its winter time so prices for a check & regas should be lower due to lack of demand.

Brief Update. Regas done at ATS about 10 days ago with a groupon offer - £39.  No oil or gas in system, all refilled and it's been working perfectly since.

Just keep an eye on it - It should easily last a year with no discernible loss of performance. If possible measure the coldest AC temp now and check again in a month or two - Mine would work fine right after regassing but after 2-3 months would be no longer working.
