Dog Hammock

Does anyone know where I can get a dog hammock to fit in the rear seat of a MY22 Yaris? I'm specifically after one that will fit the Yaris properly rather than a generic one that will "sort of" fit.

Most will be generic sizes unless, you have one made, what could be very expensive

What is a dog hammock?? I'm imagining a literal hammock strung across the back seats with a dog swinging back and forth in it, and this seems like a recipe for a very vomity dog

Unless the dog can be secured in the hammock it will be illegal to have it unrestrained.

We have a generic which fastens to front and rear headrests and has velcro slots for belt straps and part can be unzipped if use split seats.  Cost around £10 from Aldi but I have not seen any recently.  We now just us it as a boot liner.

Like Roy's solution we use one from Pets at Home that is generic with zips and velcro slits. It fits fine in our Yaris & our Skoda Octavia.  It has weighted rods in it so it fits flat in different sized cars.  We also use a harness strap that fits onto the Isofix points so the dog can't step in the seat belt clip and undo himself.

As a word of advice, fasten the seatbelts behind the hammock, the current Yaris has seat load detectors so if the dog moves it sets off an alarm if the belts are not fastened.

Getting a bespoke one I think you would struggle as Travall our normal go to company for dog guards, floor mats etc do not do anything for the current Yaris

Same here! Ever since reading the OP, I have not been able to clear the image of a dog with its feet up in the hammock on a sunny beach, sipping a Pina Colada! 😂😂😂

I was imagining something like a doggy jock strap. Some dogs look like they need them!

We once travelled with two Scotties on a long overnight ferry, they were in for about 11 hours.  I went down about 10pm to let them out for a pee.  I got a filthy look for disturbing them.  Only the klaxon and flashing lights are they opened the bow doors disturbed them.

Yes - Our dog is a laid back lad. He loves going for a drive in the car.

I had a generic one fitted to my old car. I found it didn't fit too well which I why I was after one made specifically for a Yaris rather than a generic one. Might have to bite the bullet and get a generic one and make it fit.

Thanks to everyone for the replies and advice.

That looks quite cosy... lucky doggo! Hmm, I wonder if they make a bigger one that can go in the back across folded down seats - I could have a nap in the boot when on a long trip

Popped into Halfords this evening.  Hammock cost £24.  Picture looked good.  The seat cover extends down side.

Great now I have an image in my head of the dog in the hammock gently rocking back and forth sipping a pina colada with one paw and another paw on the steering wheel!

Thanks Roy. I'll wait until we pick up the car and then head off to Halfords. If it fits and meets the wife's approval, we'll get one.

When you get is set up, can you post a picture of it installed in the car with the doggie in it?

(Pina colada optional)

Of course, but he'll probably want the pina colada.

I'll try and get one of him in the hammock while I drive, and one of him driving, while I'm in the hammock. I'll need the pina colada then. 😁

You'll need to wait until September though. That's when our Yaris is due.

To ensure that you guys get those pictures ASAP you can borrow Cykers’s Yaris for the photo shoot 👏👏😂🤣

Be honest, it's not the paw prints you're worried about. It's the pina colada stains 😁

And that's why we don't drink and drive . . .  we might spill !!

You let someone spill alcohol? They'd never be invited back to my place again!
