Hi,

I am considering buying Corolla Sedan 1.8 Hybrid.

I have lots of question before that and I hope this wonderful place can help me make the final decision.
I am going to spend all my savings, so it is a tough decision. I finally got fed up with my old Audi A6 c4 2.6 quattro 1996.

1) My daily commute is 52km per side or a total of 104-105 km per day. It is almost all country commute with at most 10km city driving.

What fuel consumption should I expect? I hope for 4l per 100km which is around 60 mpg?

2) How often is the car maintenance? I am not a good driver, nor I understand much from cars.
But I have 30 000 km per year, which on my old car was very costy, not to mention when something breaks/ is damaged and needs repairs change of parts.

3) How reliable is the car? I am hearing good things about Toyota and that they can be very reliable. I am driving currently a 26 years old car which is at almost 400 000km. Can a well maintained Toyota Hybrid stand 26 years and over 500 000km?

Service intervals in Europe are 1 year or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

For 30,000km per year you would need to have the services every 15,000km. First service would be Intermediate, second service Full, and so on.

Average mpg people have reported on honest John (fairly reliable source) is 61mpg so should be achievable on average for you I'd say.

Hi,

good choice for a car. Best to buy higher spec as possible as they come with useful extras. The car will definitely deliver its promise for efficiency, drivability and reliability. Fuel consumption can vary and depends on weather, loading, driving style, etc , it will most likely be between 4-5l/100km. Service as mentioned 2 x 15000km per year ,  best to stick with Toyota official dealer to keep your warranty.  The car can last long indeed, not sure how long exactly but with carful driving and maintenance on time any car will last ages. I have a Toyota hybrid from 2010 , I drive 300km per day on average since 2018 and my car traveled total of 320000km with only regular maintenance 5 service per year, still on its original batteries, suspension, exhaust, the only items that are not original are wheel bearings and brakes. I have no plans to change for another car until this is still drivable and then after a Corolla hybrid is likely to be my next one, saloon or estate. 👍

Ordered my Corolla Hybrid on Wednesday. Expecting delivery between Jul and October. 1.8 hybrid engine business spec sedan. I am ultra hyped, being watching some youtube videos on the functions the car has. I am trying to understand how to drive a hybrid, so I can make use of the fuel efficiency.

I have had Toyota hybrids for 4.5 years, still learning techniques. I am determined this year to get more then the 96mpg over a 50 mile journey in the summer of 2019.  You will find there up to a 10mpg difference between summer and winter driving.  Having said that, today, in temperatures between 7oC and 9pC on a 62 mile return trip I got 82.2mpg. I am in a Prius not a Corolla. Same engine and hybrid gear, different shape….. makes all the difference.
