2011 Avensis 2.0d lack of power, new injectors fitted.

Started it up and suffered from lack of power pulling away all of sudden. Drove ok once going at higher revs and returned home on the motorway without a problem though was still underpowered pulling away on roundabouts etc. Bit of white smoke when pulling way and more so when warming up. Fault code P062D Fuel injector Driver Circuit Performance Bank 1. Car has done 160k so after changing fuel filter with no change I went for as set of injectors. Exchange injectors and 3 out of 4 coded straight away. 4th that wouldnt code had a small square symbol ontop where as the others including the old ones all had a circle on top. I contacted the suppliers who provided a different code for it which programmed in ok. Car starts fine and idles fine though still has lack of power as before if not slightly worse. Drives fine in higher revs still. P062D code has not returned after being deleted prior to fitting injetors but now has P1601 EEPROM Error - Injector correction value, DPF Thermal Degradation Record current and historic. This cannot be deleted with the icarsoft v2 I've got but unsure if it was from when the injector wouldnt code or if it is a present fault. Not sure where to go next and considering an auto diesel specialist. Reading up there are suggestions of the injector driver module? The car has a relativley new EGR valve and had a carbon clean in October before I bought it in November which sugests possible issues prior to purchase? Will have a look at the EGR tommorow to see if it is blocked at all.

In addition I've got some parking break and vsc warnings up which I'm aware can be linked to other faults. The car did roll forward a bit with the handbrake on when I was jacking it up to fix the exhaust heatshield at the same time as injectors. c1201 engine control system malfunction, c1346 Zeropoint calibration of clutch stroke sensor undone, c1336 Zero point calibration of G sensor calibration and c13a7 actuator malfunction. Happy to look at these in a seperate thread to avoid any confusion.

Appreciate any help or pointers. Thanks

Took Egr off this morning and wasn’t to bad, corresponding with it looking quite new on the exterior. Port into the manifold looked fairly choked so figuring that hadn’t been cleaned out when doing the Egr. Took manifold off and there was quite a lot of crap in there. Rain stops play and not sure if cleaning this up will sort it but definitely won’t do it any harm! Ports on no 1 cylinder especially bad.0B2B70BB-C922-434C-83B5-3AE9E2986154.thumb.jpeg.3ce4d496ca4014d35bc25ebc35e026ec.jpeg1317993E-A526-4AB3-BFC2-A368217296BF.thumb.jpeg.c503079a3a8f401685f54714b196602a.jpeg22A0E25E-CD6C-41D0-8456-C27016EFEEEC.thumb.jpeg.372834f11a2a9e882cdd3d6e83555c9b.jpeg

Worth doing as car pulls better at higher revs. Unfortunately still lack of power when pulling away🤨

Not sure what next!

Anybody got any experience of diagnosing injector module located on radiator cowling?

Quite a few £ later and it's sorted. Injector values were wiped and re learnt which got it runnng lovely but the EGR valve turned out to be sticking open slightly causing the pulling away issue. Now runs like a dream with much bette MPG, when I can afford to drive anywhere!!!

Mark, glad to hear its sorted. I had heard that the Avensis ECU 'learnt' as it went along adapting, but wasn't sure if that was a bit of an urban myth. Makes sense. I used to have a Jaguar X Type diesel which was notorious for clogging its EGR and inlet. I remember well taking it all apart and getting absolutely caked in Black gunge. It certainly ran better afterwards and 'smoked' a lot less!!

by chance bud when you say  Injector values were wiped and re learnt can this be done yourself threw tech stream or pull the b attery and let the power out of the car completely for a few days then connect the Battery will that let the computer relearn the injectors

How did you Manage injector Driver Moudule? Re "learnt" by your self or did you go to garage? I have same issue.some says its injector but with P062D its sounds Injector driver module is faulty.
