2015 Yaris Bulb Replacement

Noticed that my driver side headlamp bulb is out so will need to replace.

Does anyone have a good guide to accessing and replacing the 2015 Yaris Headlamp?

Alongside that, any bulbs recommended? (Halfords have a lot on their site showing they are compatible with the car, but I simply don’t know what is what)

Many thanks

I have not been able to look at the bulb itself, not sure how I get into it yet, however from some research it is HIR2, the projector type

There could be two types of bulb - H4 or HIR2. Page 378 of the attached manual shows how to replace the H4, and Page 380 the HIR2.

If you want to get better performance from the headlights, both sizes are available as upgrade bulbs (eg +150% more light) available from places like Amazon, eBay, etc. Although the brighter the bulb, the shorter the life. Don't get LED bulbs as these fitted to headlights designed for halogen are an MOT fail.

Let us know how you get on.

Smashing, had a look and they are HIR2, so will look for a new pair to go in. Will be nice to have some a bit brighter but nothing extreme.

They are impressively easy to replace, more than I thought.

Hijacking this thread for my 2014 with HIR2 bulbs.

I'm wanting to improve the amount of light from the headlights.  They are currently HIR2 halogen bulbs and I am not fussed if I refit halogen or fit LED's.

Has anyone replaced the stock bulb for an improved halogen light ?

Has anyone replaced the stock bulb for an LED and if so which one ?

I know if I fit LED they will probably fail at MOT so I'd just replace the stock bulbs on the day 🙂

Upgrade halogen bulbs are available in HIR2 fitting - for example Elta Vision Pro 150 and Philips X-treme Vision Pro 150. Available from Amazon and other retailers.

Are the car's headlights projector? Only this will work with led/hid.

Get Hella from Amazon autodoc, etc. It is only £8,  1870 lumens, 500 hours. The same brightness as Optiwhite/xtreemvision.vision from dealership. The original bulb longlife philips is 1340 lumens but last 2-4x longer. I am using Hella for the past 3y, 30k miles and still glowing.

Don't buy any unknown brand LED. They are often dimmer and have short lifespan. There are some wellmade LED 9012/HIR2 bulbs if you are a risk taker (not road legal). Objectively, it will never blind other drivers from the nature of sharp cut projector beam as long as the height adjustment is right. Usually, we do not need to adjust anything. Bevinsee V35, V45, V55, GTR Ultra 2, Apollo X7, Auxbeam GX are all more than 3800 lumens.
