T27 Radio Upgrade and USB Port

Hello,

I decided to grab the Sony AX3005DB and the Fascia Kit to upgrade my current system which seems to be dying.

I’ve checked that the head unit comes with a USB port, which I wanted to route into one of the blank holes in my dashboard like shown here, but the one linked has expired and apparently does not work with Apple devices which I need to get CarPlay working.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Some I’ve seen on AliExpress require a negative and positive connection, but the head unit comes with a USB female cable I should be able to plug the USB port into.

Kind regards,

FTAven

Hi Frank. I went a different route when I got my Avensis back in 2015. I added a Bluetooth/USB adapter, since upgraded to a later unit with better bluetooth capability. At the time I got a USB extension socket, and installed it in place of the AUX only socket in the centre storage box. I did try the blank place near the parking brake control, but I didn't like the location in fear of breaking a USB memory sick or a cable it the way, while trying to operate the parking brake.

See my post:-

Hi Konrad. Your tutorial is the one I was linking to in my OP, it's very good and what gave me the idea to link my head unit USB female cable into a USB port to have a cleaner setup. I currently use a bluetooth Adapter plugged into my 12v port, but to use Apple CarPlay I need to plug into my head unit. The port you had linked in your tutorial is no longer available, are you aware of any currently being sold on eBay I could pick up quickly as my other parts arrive by the end of the week and AliExpress takes months sometimes.

What you want is a usb/aux, adapter/extension connects2 list them

CTTOYOTAUSB.2

the other alternative is to get a factory USB port (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284598383573) - an adapter lead (USB-TY1) and Toyota cable OR a cheaper option would be to chop the end off a usb cable and wire it you self

It's a USB port - as long as it's USB it will work, abite charge slowly

Did you get the steering wheel controls adapter or iso adapter ?

Before you posted I ended up ordering this, would it also work? I am not fussed about the AUX working, I need the USB port to work.

As for the steering wheel controls someone recommended this.

Iso adapter just gives you power and Speakers, A steering wheel adapter - Retains your steering wheel controls, but it depends on if you have the 20 or 28 pin connector to what adapter you require - Early T270 could have either

Steering wheel controls adapter are £25-35

The kit for the steering wheel control I linked above with the fascia for £89, is that decent or can I get it cheaper separately?

I upgraded my non-navi radio to oem Touch&Go. I also upgraded Speakers to Alpines and finally added Match PP 41DSP amplifier (this was plug and play). This way I got way better sound from Speakers and USB/AUX plugs to original place under armrest. Here is something about radio and speaker upgrade:

Sorry my mistake i misread your post - you have purchased the radio and fitting kit (inc fascia)

no, you don't need anything else if you have that kit from your first post

You may need a DAB Aerial (SMB) type

on glass

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402606324714

maybe a reverse camera (nice to have)
