First Car faults

Hello everyone. 

5 weeks ago I bought my first car. A 2 litre 2008 Auris Sr diesel.  Car runs great when it works…however i don’t think it had the best life before I started looking after it… 

I drove 120 mile there over the last 2 days without issue. I got into the car this morning turned it on as normal…check engine light came on.

this happened a week ago and I got the Egr valve changed. 

it’s thrown me a bit that it came on after the car was off over night, no electrics were left on and car was 100% on. I changed the oil on Sunday but surely issues from that would have come up sooner than now?

it’s got 138k miles on it. any help would be appreciated. Car still runs ok, no power issues or anything like that.

Assuming it was not a private sale what did the garage that sold it to you have to say?

Just return it to them to solve, speak to citizens advice if issues and read up on consumer rights act 2015
