New Auris SR180 owner - flashing fuel filter/battery lights

Hi all, I purchased a '59 plate SR180 last week so am just tidying up a few things before it goes on the road.  One of the weird things is the fuel filter and Battery light flash simultaneously when the key is turned on (ie. when ready to start, but engine not running).  It repeats a pattern of longer blinks, they get shorter and then the cycle starts over.  No lights once the car is running, I'm aware these two together indicate a charging problem.  Battery seems OK and has taken a couple of conditioning charges from a 4A charger; alternator healthy too.  I've checked for parasitic drains and don't have any, even disconnecting the aftermarket head unit to check.  Just a weird thing with this particular car?

Rather than spam you guys with multiple threads - headlights, the only option is a pair of the chrome style OE replacements on the pre-facelift, right?  Not the better-looking black facelift ones or xenon (which I assume needs self-levelling systems etc. anyway)?  They are irretrievably UV damaged on this car, unfortunately.  If anyone has a pair I'd be interested, although £90 a side on fleabay is not too bad in the big scheme of things.

So far I've cleaned the EGR and L-shape piece into the inlet manifold, a bit gummed up but not too bad at all considering I don't think they've been apart before, and stripped an aftermarket sub out.  Done air filter (supposedly done 5k ago, not a chance), leaving pollen filter, oil & filter plus a brake refresh and it should be OK.

Cheers all and sorry for the boringly noob questions,

Jon

I guess no-one has seen this problem before!  No matter, it doesn't affect the car.
